Planners prefer to have everything thought out ahead of time, and pantsers tend to write “by the seat of their pants”, chasing inspiration the moment it strikes. As a “plantser”, you combine both styles for a more hybrid approach. You like to plan a little bit before you tackle a project, but you might like to leave a little room for creativity, too! One famous writer who falls into this category is Gail Carson Levine, author of Ella Enchanted. In her books on writing, she explains that while she does brainstorm and outline before she begins a novel, she spends a lot of time “discovering the story” during the writing process.
